BS in Computer Science and Music
The BS in Computer Science and Music combined major (Khoury College and the College of Arts, Media and Design) is designed to give students a firm foundation in music and computing, exposing students to a wide range of musical repertoires, theoretical approaches, and research strategies. The program engages students in the study of how music works and the many contexts in which it is created and received. Students will also learn about the fundamentals of program design and software development.

This program will equip you with the skills to pursue a range of careers at the intersection of technology and music, including:
- Audio software developer
- Music software engineer
- Music data analyst
Students in this combined major have opportunities to build on their classroom learning in industry settings through co-ops. Recent related co-op experiences include:
- AI/ML software development co-op at AtScale
- Software engineering co-op at Whoop
You will have opportunities to partner with leading professors on active research projects. Here are a few of our research areas:
- Human-computer interaction
- Data science
- Natural language processing and information retrieval
In this program, you’ll learn to:
- Apply design principles in the construction of software systems of varying complexity.
- Use current techniques, skills, and tools necessary for effective and secure computing practice.
- Apply mathematical foundations, algorithmic principles, and computer science theory in the modeling and design of systems in a way that demonstrates comprehension of the tradeoffs involved in design choices.
