Project Escalion
Advancing game development through hands-on projects, technical workshops, collaborative builds, and research-oriented exploration
Project Escalion is a graduate student–led initiative dedicated to advancing game development as a rigorous technical discipline. The club explores the foundations of interactive systems by building games from the ground up — ranging from custom engines to fully realized interactive experiences — with a strong emphasis on low-level programming, systems design, and research-driven development.
Recognizing a gap in graduate-focused game development spaces, Project Escalion provides an environment where students across disciplines, including software engineering, computer engineering, artificial intelligence, and product management, can apply their skills to game development and explore it as a viable career pathway. The club welcomes students interested in both the technical and creative dimensions of building complex interactive systems.
Through hands-on projects, technical workshops, collaborative builds, and research-oriented exploration, members gain experience in performance optimization, graphics programming, engine architecture, and system-level problem solving. The club also fosters connections with faculty, alumni, and industry professionals to bridge academic learning with real-world applications.
Project Escalion is committed to cultivating a collaborative and intellectually curious community where graduate students can deepen their technical expertise, experiment with innovative ideas, and contribute to the evolving landscape of game development.

NU Launch Labs
Developing real-world projects that address campus and community needs while fostering collaboration and professional growth
NU Launch Labs bring together students of all backgrounds, skill levels, and academic disciplines to develop real-world projects that address campus and community needs. NU Launch Labs believes in fostering collaboration, supporting professional growth, and helping members showcase the skills they gain at Northeastern. Students will create portfolio-ready projects, strengthen teamwork abilities, and explore opportunities that may lead to innovative startups.
As well, many interns, new hires, and even early career professionals struggle to adapt to the communication, collaboration, and accountability expected in corporate environments. NU Launch Labs aims to bridge this gap between how students collaborate on school projects and how teams operate in the professional world.
Disclaimer: If you are an F-1 or J-1 international student, please consult with the Office of Global Services to determine if an opportunity sourced by NU Launch Labs would require approval for employment authorization.
