BS in Computer Science and Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology
The BS in Computer Science and Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology combined major (Khoury College and Bouvé College of Health Sciences) is designed to facilitate critical thinking, information literacy, and oral and written communication skills. In this program, students have an opportunity to focus on the fundamentals of program design, software development, computer organization, systems and networks, theories of computation, principles of languages, and advanced algorithms and data.

This program will equip you with the skills to pursue a range of careers at the intersection of technology and communication sciences, including:
- Speech recognition software developer
- Machine learning engineer specializing in speech and hearing analysis
- Clinical software developer for speech therapy applications
- User experience researcher for accessibility-focused products
You will have opportunities to partner with leading professors on active research projects. Here are a few of our research areas:
- Natural language processing and information retrieval
- Human-computer interaction

In this program, you’ll learn to:
- Apply mathematical foundations, algorithmic principles, and computer science theory in the modeling and design of systems in a way that demonstrates comprehension of the tradeoffs involved in design choices.
- Apply design principles in the construction of software systems of varying complexity.
- Use current techniques, skills, and tools necessary for effective and secure computing practice.
